Most of my jobs I request payment for materials prior to the job starting. I've got fairly big insurance job coming up, is there anyway you can get any payment up front?? Thanks.
you can ask but gen insurance jobs pay upon recieving final invoice unless they have paid out to customer first. you could ask if they are paying you direct then ask ins co or ask customer and refund back to them when payout.
You can get the payment upfront mate, they just don't like giving it out. Just like they tell every customer they can only use their approved installers/retailers even tho it's up to the customer who they have working in their house.
A few months ago our car got scratched to hell by kids along with another 12 motors in our ave. Our excess was £200 and told insurance we wanted to go to who we preffered, they told us our excess would be £400 if we did. Actually worked out better as the car was scratched down 1 side and the bonnet but the insurance companys preffered garge pushed for a full re spary and we got it.
of course i will i have a few times already through companies gone bump etc just one of them but then again i work mainly for builders and architects the same people over and over so i know they will pay at the end new customers i would be weary but hopefully i can stick with who i know i would just be a bit courtious as that may determin if i get the job or not
Yeah I never ask for the deposit until I get the nod on the job. I ask for 30% - 50% depending on size of the job and customer. The way I look at it is if they won't pay that deposit why won't they? Only customer I wouldnt mind working for without deposit is council. Most of my work is domestic so I can't afford to take a risk on tens of thousands worth of materials like most contractors do.
yeah i know what your saying mate it is a good idea i think the contract side is a bit **** it is like a gamble really!
I always get 50% upfront and then that usually covers materials, then the rest to collect is profit or fitting money.
