looking good, your gripper and underlay prep looks spot on. However i will point out (because i tend to do that )that your underlay should run opposite directions directions to each other. Reasons why but can be argued hence i say looks spot on!
Is the reason by any chance that some u/lay manufacturers cant produce a consistent thickness across the width, so running in opposite directions reduces the effect of any difference in height? This is a problem I've noticed with some u/lay I've used in the past, but not as yet on Cosi.
yeah i agree MATT. i used to use MAGIC PU stuff which was terrible for difference in thickness an really bad when you got nearer the end of the roll, but must say COSI is pretty decent stuff so dont mind keeping it the same way. Although even by turning it you can only really hope for one end to be the same so no real gain??? it would need to be a thin carpet surely for someone to notice a diff. never noticed an issue on width always just thinner as u get into the roll. Cloud 9 is the answer but lot o money for what it is.
most pu's are a different thinckness from one side to the other. To get a different thickness from one end to the other is a fault tho. You would also be surprised, been on a few inspections where the customer has picked up on a couple of mm thickness change. Even had teh one where they could tell where the staples was through the carpet when walking on it ! Not that i could personally feel them but on inspection they was correct.
on the old underlay i worked with it was bad for solid lumps hence why i stopped using it, had to go back an lift the carpet on several occassions as customer thought we'd left a stone or similar beneath
