Customer has put down water based setcrete levelling at 50mm which needs smoothing over.. Does it matter what levelling compound i use ? Does it have to be water based.?

how long has it been down mate? you need to do a rh% test if over 75% latex then surface dpm mate if it's dry enough check the compression and flexural strength then you can use water based as long as it's weaker than the setcrete.

If its deep base I don't think it's suitable to go under a Dpm. You could latex over it or I put renovation screed over it

This is what is says, Walk on time is typically 3 hours. Ceramic and textile floorcoverings can be installed directly on SETCRETE™ DEEP BASE Floor Levelling Compound after a minimum 6 hours at 20°C / 12 hours at 10°C. However, when vinyl floorcoverings are to be installed SETCRETE™ DEEP BASE should be capped with a suitable SETCRETE™ Floor Levelling Compound and the floorcovering should not be installed for a minimum of 24 hours after the floor levelling compound has set. So does that mean they just want me to use their product .?

Is that because the finish is crap?
