Just wanted to get some opinions on which sanding machines are best. Bona, Lagler, kunzle & tasin etc all claim to be the best, but are they all essentially the same or is there one manufacturer that stands out. I'm thinking about buying, rather than hiring all the time.

    cheers

Lagler (Hummel and Trio sander) do stand out IMHO.

We use the Viper from Frank (now Wolf), a bit lighter than other belt sanders and an adjusted WoodBoy with Multidisk (can be compared with Trio sander, but then multi-functional).

    Bona IMHO is overrated.

thanks for your view. I think the trio is a great machine. whats the "adjusted woodboy with multidisk"?

Also what edging machines do you use?

    Sorry, used the old name.

It's a Numatic buffing machine with extra weight, where if needed a Multidisk (with 5 individual rotating disks) can be attached to.

Edge sander is also from Frank (Wolf)

I have owned a Frank Cobra 20 (belt) and a 300mm Lagler Elf (drum). I have a Lagler Hummel now and love it, however the Frank Cobra is a really good machine.
For me the Lagler machine's are superior and you can get most part's quickly, I use a Lagler Single for finishing and a Lagler Flip for edging (they are really light, no back ache).

    I hope this helps.

We do have 2 Cobra (Frank), an edger Flip,an edger Sideboy (overmat) , single discs: Hover and Romus (FR).
Cobra in my opinion is a little better than Hummel.
