Hi I am laying oak parquet blocks in a herringbone pattern and I am going to have a border go around the outside in the form of two rows of blocks. The room is not square and I had thought I would keep the border square so that the herringbone pattern fits inside border nce and square. I would then adjust the width of the border to compensate for the room not being square. I'm now thinking that it would not look right like this. I now think that the border should be the same all round the room even though it will not be square with the herringbone pattern. Can somebody please confirm the correct approach? Thanks. Gnasher
I'd keep the border square myself as imo that looks best. So set your border at 5.5inch then set out the herringbone best way you can to keep the main walls as straight as you can.
With parquet defo keep the border the same width square with the walls & you won't notice the field being out so much or it will look really odd
Thanks guys, that's helped a lot. It's only one wall that's out and not by much so I'll make sure the border is the same width all the way round. Thanks again. Gnasher
