Is it true that if the carpet you are installing is over 5 meters in length or width , it has to be power stretched? :?
Does say that mate, I've worked with a lot of fitters and I've never seen 1 with a power stretcher, infact I've never even seen a power stretcher :shock:
Been using a stretcher since day 1 tbh most cpts should be stretched not talking bout cheap felters or owt like that tho :lol:
yes all carpets over 5 meters and all action backed carpets should be power stretched even if only 2 x 2. The difference in wear to a carpet is massive if not stretched to teh correct tenstion. The adverage 80kg person can not apply enought stretch to a carpet over 5 metrs and is very likley to rip the carpet also.
This part timer also owns and uses a power-stretcher.......when i actually have some carpets to fit that is !
Yes they do take longer. Possible double the time. But thats how long the room takes to fit correctly. Using a knee kicker is cutting corners ! However there was a stretcher called a 'superstretcher' that was almost as quick as a knee kicker. The design was sold to Floorwise and they changed the stretcher head for a none adjustable one :shock: which put everyone off buying one. Also it could only be used on a wooden subfloor. BUT, lets say you have a 8 meter room, if you stay tack the centre of the room and stretch off your stay tacks you have actually turned your room of 8 meters into 2x 4m rooms. So you would then be working to British Standards while using a knee kicker. Power stretcher is the best tool for the job tho.
it is true then, I thought it was 7.5 meters and over required power stretching. Oh well, every days a school day.
