Always do. Got told by karndean it should never touch and must always leave a gap. Don't really matter what size, feather covers it all anyway. Had some biggish gaps before 10mm on awkward toilets and the feathers covers it so doesn't matter. Obviously on a big room butting full sheets just leave 2/3mm

I do daz . Only coz had a job once where karndean was lifting in a bathroom. Turned out plywood had swollen and tented a bit which pushed a tile edge up .

I do. If it's too tight even the moisture from the feather and adhesive can cause just enough swelling to make it tent up

I dont normally leave a gap only if boards are cut off square then its just minimal, If you leave a gap and fill and smooth with feather finish and the boards expand surely the feather will either crumble and cause a ridge / lump or will pop up under pressure of boards expanding causing a ridge or just butt tight sand joints then feather if it expands will still cause a ridge so either way were ending with a ridge,

I never do. If I got those sort of problems I'd change my timber supplier.

Worth mentioning if it does tent up it will be miniscule but in a modern house or extension with big windows it can be noticeable. A millimetre gap is all that's needed to avoid it
