I've quoted on a solid wood job - take up crunchies, grind floor, screed, dpm, screed, glue down floor.
Customer contacted me today to say thanks but no thanks, the decorator was a lot more competitive!

Going to wait for the phone to ring towards the end of summer when the new floor starts buckling.

Its ridiculous that this day and age people still won't pay for a correct job, especially with all the cowboys around at the minute.

Drives me nuts how guys 'claim' they using the same materials, but they're obviously not, esp when they not even the same blooming trade!
Wish people would stay in their respective trades, leave the flooring to the floor layers
    w@nkers lol

the worse bit is they will bodge it and get away with it .

I know i keep going on about this and some may find it annoying but when im in this situation i always ask " are they qualified? are they trained? " and show my NVQ qualifications and Certificates. It works for me.

End of the day without the above you are not 'above' the decorator for what you can show. Decorator can argue he has more experience and sadly you cant prove if they have or not.

True Daz, we all get the one that looks at price only. Those are the jobs you are better off walking from as they are the one's that pic out silly complaints to try and get even more discount.

PS- my comment was not a knock a Trimmer. I dont know what trimmer has to show and may of produced a amazing portfolio. My comment is aimed as a general comment as i get similar calls most days of lads saying similar.

LOL, i can assure you tho. For a such a young chap in the trade he really is one of the best installers out there. It annoys me how good he is. His memory is photo graphic and he can tell you any standard on the spot. The annoying thing is what ever you show him (not a lot) he can repeat to a standard of someone doing it 30 years.

Im privileged to have him working for me. I dont think he could ever be replaced. His a rare one mate.

Anyway, open day soon that you will be invited to, Daniel will be doing some demos. Your turn to breath down his neck and put him under pressure LOL. I can assure you tho he will impress with his skills.
