Anyone ever fitted this stuff, for some strange reason they've put down it's suitable for stairs :shock: is it just me or is that asking for trouble :?:
it looks like one called cairo saxony, if it is it had a 10 year warranty for stairs.Tufts about 1 1/2" long and about 3/4" apart i have fitted 2 of these on stairs and had to replace both within 6 months of being fitted, i told the shop of my serious missgivings before fitting but as they were already sold was told to go ahead. both suffered from the same fault, the tufts fell out of the face of the risers where toes or heels were kicking the riser (and yes the gripper was low down and underlay fitted gripper to gripper), the tufts would fall out if you brused it with your hand.Even on the sample if you grabbed a tuft between finger and thumb it was suprising easy to pull out a tuft. Shop stopped selling this range (cairo saxony) As i say it looks like the same thing but i'am only going on the website photos.
yeah almost identical why are they saying they'll guarantee it on stairs? how many replacements do you recon they'll have to do :lol:
Lots i honesly belive the manafactures do not the same testing as the used to in the old days, and give a warranty as a selling point. i really belive that a carpet should not be sold on warranty alone. with all the diffrent backings (jute,action bac,felt,and woven axm amd wilton) the still say you should get 1 1/2 % strech for every carpet,that 1-1 1/2" every 8' 4" , some just will not strech that far. does logic not dictate this will vary on the diffrent types of carpet.
The customer actually gets written proof from the "LIFESTYLE" for confirmation of the guarantees.Taking a risk in saying that a carpet is suitable when a fitter thinks it isnt shouldnt worry a fitter.From a sales point of view how many customers are going to complain in six months time?.Either way it is a risk.More fitting costs to the fitter allowing more work in the future enhancing our further "Lifestyles".
