Actively think out of the box when regarding materials/products/tools etc
eg
As matt has posted earlier he regulary tests products/materials, and robroy has also stated he tried some ps in his garage overnight at dif temps
How have YOU tried thinking out of the box?

Me, i try as much as i can, i tried using a lino cutter on lvt and can deffo say it works v well cutting in borders, so will be using that a lot froim now.
What do you do?

 

I try things quite often mate, but last few months not had a minute. So seam to be rushing alot.

I have made a border in Karndean cutting planks down with my guillotine. Showed a few lads on the advanced LVT course.

I tried mixing granno with feather finish the other week to see the result. I filled a hole with it. Seamed ok but was probberly weak. It was out the way of people walking though.

Been messing about with putting polysafe into cap strip with different tools. Use a old blunt screwdriver which is bent at the end.

 

I've got a load of the 5 finger parquet sitting around. Ive been thinking about doing something different with that but not sure what yet? Have to think about some different designs

 

Would this be the lino cutter that runs on a track ?

Funny enough just brought one of them of Rugrat, it came today. Will be using it tomorrow. Yeah, one of the guys what I sometimes do some work for uses that for capping. I've used that for it and it works a treat.

 

Ive been looking at a Logun mat framer for cutting in borders in LVT , it runs on a guide rail and its got a rubber strip on the underneath to stop it moving or slipping its basically like a festool on guide rails with a small gadget like the green Wolf lino cutter, you can slide and cut one way then tilt it and pull and cut the other way.
I think the giude rail isnt very big tho, would be great if you could put 2 together like the festool, you can also attach another gadget that does the same but on a bevel and you can change the blades, not very expensive 100 sheets with both gadgets
