Alright chaps, have just specced out a job with a few "problems" It is basically a rip out of old Amtico and latex in a kitchen that is above a basement. The house is over 100 years old with problems of a flooding basement underneath with the drains flooding into the house a lot and with a BIG gas boiler in this room it dries out the basement subfloor but making very humid and is affecting the ceiling of basement (kitchen floor). So have drilled and plugged floor and will go back later for readings but know there will be damp as gave a rough Tramex on roof and said wet also plaster falling down. Customer says is going to sort drains out so am thinking 2 coats 1k Turbo, prime and Ultraplan Renovation any thoughts?
Wear wellies mate while your down there. Mad that, never seen nothing like it. But you should be ok with the dpm system i would think.

The woman is a bit scatty and said that the flooding happens all the time, the basement is massive and used to be rented out to students with one room 40ft by 17ft and she says she isn't that bothered and never even bothered to phone the insurance the first time it happened stinking rich. Anyway will tell her to get sorted as is causing mega problems and will use the 1k Turbo

Too right mate, I didn't think there was parking at the back of the house but opened up the basement door and there was a brand new Mercedes SLS AMG and Carrerra GT at the back :shock:

Couldn't see a salt line and with the massive boiler in the basement giving off heat and the water on the floor evaporating all the time and putting moisture in the air affecting the plaster on ceiling. Will be going back out on Friday for another look and take readings. The wooden floor next door to kitchen was dry as a bone.
Judging by the pictures it ain't rissing damp its more like the house is sinking LOL sorry Brian but it does look like that.
Aye mate, basement is a wee bit splashy! She just needs to sort out her main drain as there is a backflow
92% with one coat. Upto 98% with 2 coats. But as has been pointed out, just confirm its not rising damp as surface DPM cant be used with rising damp. Judging by the windows down there and the water on the floor + heating and drying clothes it seems that moister above is from high humidity from below and not rising damp.
