I priced a job last year for a school and didn't get it. The carpet tiles were about £20 trade. The firm who got it, forgot there name think CBS or something like that priced it at £14 and won the job.
My dad is the site agent on the job, and they are on the job now fitting. They didn't use the right carpet tiles just similar ones ( cheap ).
Anyway they have laid the vinyl rooms and there has been complaints by the headmaster of what looks like stones under the vinyl. My dad rang the fitters and the boss said hit them with a hammer lol.
My dad rang me for advice, so I told him poor screeding and not rubbed down by sounds of it. The boss is coming to look at it this week.
Sounds to me a firm going in cheap to get the work then using cheap materials an cheap labour. Will keep you posted on what happens.

Sounds to me like you're right maybe they only put a skim on or maybe they didn't screed at all.

I see this every day. Really annoys me.

A few years back i used to make a lot of money going around repairing other peoples work that had quoted against me in the first place and beat me on price. Basically it was hospitals and dentists in Birmingham. For some reason they kept having the same firm back on every section they wanted done, then i would follow behind repairing. Would of been so much cheaper if they just had me fit the floors in the first place.

    Madness.

    Quite often the case
People only see the bottom line.
Only see the 'real' value afterwards
But then its too late ;)
