Hi All, Looking for a bit of advise following some building work we've had done. We have a open dining room/living room which we'd like to separate using laminate in the dining area and carpet in the living room. The problem we have is that we'd ideally like the skirting laid on top of the laminate to achieve that tidy finish. When applying the skirting to the area that will have the carpet, what do we do? Do we apply skirting at same level and hope the carpet and underlay will hide the gap between concrete floor and skirting? We have 12mm laminate in dining room with underlay, and in the living room we are having 11/12mm underlay and thick pile carpet. Any help or suggestions should be appreciated. Many thanks Dan
Skirting needs to be on the floor for carpet area so the grippers can trap the carpet against the skirts.
Use LVT instead of laminate then you won’t have to touch the skirtings It can be fitted up tight to them
Any reasons for picking laminate? Would your budget push to some nice Lvt? It would mean having your lvt area screeded but will outlast laminate all day long.
I would put a hardwood quadrant round the base of the skirting and paint it in with the skirting if you want laminate. That way you can have all the skirting installed and just put the beading on last. Also helps hide any small gaps if your subfloor isn’t super flat Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
If you’re putting skirting over laminate you will need to have it scribed and cut down to the same height as where the carpet is, I would recommend a lvt instead if your budget will stretch to one. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
