Has any one used ardex k15 hb, my question is does it leave a smooth finish because it to be mixed with 4 ltr water instead of the normal 5 + ltr like other screeds. it says in the tech sheet it's got fine aggregate added, reason for using this screed is going to be laid at 15mm and need a fast drier for lvt to be fitted in 24 hour.
Hi mate , yeah it's quite a smooth finish considering it's used as a base coat. Used to use this a lot when we done big jobs subbing for firms. It's a decent compound. It does have aggregate in but it settles fast and leaves it smooth.
With it being laid at 15 mm I'm not going to use my spikey roller as it clogs up when rolling will it still smoothe out ok with just a trowel finish? have I got to be fast with it as I'm going to have to do 10 mixes on my own?
Yeah don't use spikey don't need too it flows great. Regarding spreading time I think you should be ok can't remember having any probs with it but we had a three man team so mixing / spreading was never a prob. I think you'll be fine .
K15 is great gear, its basically K11 with abit of aggregate chucked in to give it the thicker mix to build up with.
If you were doing a room upwards of 80-100m2 I would say get someone to mix for you too prevent getting bay joins in your screed . But in saying that if you used a pin leveller you would be fine
Rooms only 13 m2 but it's going 15 mm deep so it works out about 1 bag per m2 roughly, I'm just going to mix and pour in the room and let it find its own level, I've never used it so don't know how fast it sets, I've used the light blue ultra flor and that set really fast needed to rub parts down and I don't want to do that too much hard work
You shouldnt have to rub down much at all . As i said it flows great and the agg settles down leaving a smooth finish .
Its good stuff flows very well & has a very high compression strenth. Can't see why you can't spike roller it at 15mm unless your spikes have worn out ?
Nah dont spikey it we found that it was leaving stop marks in it . No need to use spikey anyway it flows superbly
