Hey peeps, I'm Kev from Peterborough. Trained up as an apprentice with John Lewis in the Eighties, been fitting for about 30 years, I'm 46, my right knee is 73 and my left knee is about 89 ( torn ligament for 2 years ) keyhole surgery and me are not going to be mates!!

I have had a small showroom for a couple of years and have tried to do it all myself. Guess what?...... I'm going round in circles and not growing the business. I used to go on these forums a few years back and remember quite a few of you.

I'm pretty green in the contract side of things, but am starting to get a lot of opportunities in this area, so I'm after decent contract floor layers in the next month. ( jobs local to Peterborough ) excuse my daft and naive questions, but I'm on here to connect with other fitters, have a laugh and learn more from you lot!!!

Anyone sneering at my daft questions is likely to get told where to go! Anyone taking the P133 is likely to get on with me. Sneering and banter are not the same!! Know it alls have been warned!!

Anyways hello!!! Looking forward to meeting you all. Any c&c fitters please get in touch by PM. Same goes for LVT, wood and carpet fitters ( no yee-haaaas please ) I pay proper rates for a proper job.

Alright Kev, do you employ any lads? Do you have any apprentices?

I've just got one in ready for the future.

God, you're a friendly lot!! Hello back, good to hear from you!

    Dazlight-

I am not thinking of a lad really, 2 reasons ( well 3 if you count avoiding making some kids life a misery) the first is, I don't want to be on the floor much longer, I'm a fussy slow fart and its only gonna get worse. The main one is, all my new potential referrals and opportunities are in the commercial world. I'm just not experienced enough to train someone properly. I'm actually better at conversing and converting, than fitting now. I have loved my job, but its time to be Brendan Rogers and not Luis Suarez (clue to my team)

Hello back...Coolevilangel and Jambo!!! Great to hear from you and thanks for the warm welcome!! Cre8tiveflooring and GW What do you guys specialise in??? I need to know going rate for turning straight lay Altro into C&C going rate per LM and internals and internals?? Plus straight lay with welding per LM ? Being pushed for a quote and wouldn't mind a chat if its what you do. Obviously PM as I know this forum is public.

Hi Chris.floortrend I'm sure I have loads to learn from you lot! I'm the sort that thinks some things are done only one way end of! But so many others can be done a load of different ways with a very similar but quality outcome. I'm happy to be open to learning from an apprentice, if its a good idea, it's a good idea!!

    Hi Spoony, how`s Mikey D ?
That takes me back a bit. Only 25 years fitting for me so far, but luckily no knee or back trouble, yet!
Any how, Im not far from Peterborough, and contract work is 90% of what we do.
If you sign up, you can access the trade area, where prices etc can be discussed.
