I always use scissors to cut a length off the roll, to prevent cutting through to next layer, then when laid out cut it in with a knife

What type of blade do you lads use when fitting vinyl? I use a hook and straight blade.
Does anyone use scissors or shears? i use them when using underlay aswell as a knife, and sometimes trimming a small amount off carpet.
