I’d cut them then screw the floorboards to the joists. 40mm screws. Then plywood screw or ring nail it down.

Because it was breathing and loose. The ply will tighten it all up. I hate T&G floorboards. Had loads of hassle with them.

The 1950s section will need uplifting and then a system like ardex na & DPM1c we always recommend polypipe plus.
The laminate herringbone is rubbish. You could use moduleo layred.
A good adhesive I use is ardex 1K but @merit will be better to advise
