A good quality chrome single would have looked better, and matched the stairs.
In older houses, I prefer to put 9mm ply down, as I find 6mm a little too flexible over dished boards.

I prefer the landing carpet to also cover the top riser, when using a loop pile as its neater. The metal strip seems pointless.
I tried to use TREADMORE , its a class underlay doing what an underlay should! TOG is 1.03
The warranty will be for wear (has it worn through) not its appearance, guarantees on carpets are misleading imo.
