Speaking to a couple of lads yesterday about van tracking. A place they sub to does it. Said it causes murder with the lads and they are getting calls all the time if they start the engine of a van before 4 o'clock. Getting like a big brother work.
Anyone work for someone who does it.

Hearing things like this makes me even more happy im self employed!

I have a friend who is a taxi driver and his girlfriend has a tracker on his phone so she knows where he is and how long he stays in one place! Nice to see some trust....

A lot of our flooring reps have the same thing built into the iPads they work off.

One got phoned while at the shop and they were asking him why he didn't stop at another company before ours. Apparently he had to drive straigh past it. He had already phoned the shop and owner wasn't there. He just said it's so annoying and creates a bad environment.

On the other hand tho one of the older guys said when he was younger he never wen. Out and just stayed at home and phone the customers lol. He used to let his mate to out in the company car to boost the mileage up. I guess if you have nothing to hide there's no issue.

I used to do jobs on my way home in the van. It would put a stop to that.

Last company I worked for started with that crap. Started off saying he was only doing it for insurance reasons. After a while he started doing the wages by them, trouble was you could park up at the office at 3 but you might have been cutting some ply, vinyls and loading up for a couple hours.

The firm I subby to has all their guys vans on tracker and Ive been there when they have had phone calls such as "you need to slow down as your have been breaking the speed limit" and "why did you go such and such way when you could have took a quicker route" - pure pain in the ass and its even worse for them when I pack up my tools at 4pm for the day and say "see you later then" :D whilst they have to hang around till 4:15pm before they can leave. I couldn't handle that crap. The bosses say its for insurance purposes yet they still spy on their lads.

Ive been offered a job many times on the books for them promising a brand new van blah blah but my answer is I dont like the feeling of being stalked! (Obviously in a joking way) they know where im coming from.

A contractor I Subby to got them fitted on there new vans and there lads were getting phone calls from .. leaving site early even on a Friday they wanted them there till 4.30 , they noticed one lad had 2 hour dinner breaks he didn't realise that when the ignition was on so was the tracker , one fitter thought if he Sellotaped a tinfoil pie dish over the tracker on roof it would block out the signal he found out it didn't work when he got his wages

We got a brand new Vito sports 6 seater for the boys, with all the added extras £28,000 it cost, it's lovely to drive and is a flying machine,
We put a tracker on incase it got stolen, I very seldom check or even look at the email I get every day,
The boys wrecked the van and didn't look after it, so my brother took it off them now
But when the boys had it, we did trust them and some days they do a job and knock and go home early, but other days they work late,
If they want to go early they just let me know
Only one of the lads will creep away at every opportunity, and I do check on him all the time because he takes the P
Not only is it not fair with me it's not fair on the other lads that have do work late to get jobs done for us.
If your a subby for me and on a price you can go when you want,
But if they are on day work then it's 8 to 4.ish with an hour break
