What voltage tools do you use and why? I guess that most domestic installers use 240 and site 110. Anyone break the mould?
I've got both 110 & 240 welder & henry hoover I did have a 110 mixing drill until I forgot my box one day working in the stix & (dont laugh) decided all I could do was fit a normal pug to it ? Worked fine on low speed but when I cranked it up it was like a helicopter spinning fast as hell & then blew up Lol Managed to get my screed mixed though ! I bought a 240 mixer after that coz I dont do alot of site work anymore !
Everything 110v. I have a few different transformers, so if its a small domestic job, just use a small light weight 1.5kva trani. Normal site work 3 kva, and for using the str machine or using a few weld guns, a 5kva trani. If you buy 110v, you can use it anywhere, if its 240v, then your limited.
Mostly converted back to 240 after giving up site work only tools I have @ 110v are flex door trimmer and makita belt sander. Screed/plaster mixer 240 after 110 Sparky died.
Replaced 110 for 240 now as the tools broke down because I'm not doing site work anymore. Only 110v tools are flex door trimmer and makita belt sander.
999/1000 of my installs are domestic so pretty much all 240v gear, but do have 110v trani & ext. leads which I use occasionally if / when req'd...
