Hi all....I've just turned away a potential large order, the client wanted a coir/sisal product fitted in 3 area's of his bar & restaurant. All of them would have required seaming and all would have tables and chairs scraping backwards and forwards every 2 minutes. Not to mention the lack of being able to keep it clean, fitting constraints, uneven floors etc. I offered a wool/polyprop alternative but he seemed adamant on coir/sisal. As I like to sell products that I have faith in and I know are suitable for the customers needs I declined. My question is....what would you have done?
I would've walked away too tbh, as in my eyes coir/sisal is def not fit in a place where there's constant liquid/food spillages etc. talk about a nightmare to clean!
Yeah defo turn that down & offer a more suitable alternative ! I would suggest that Natural effect vinly can't remember what its called but looks same with out the maintenance issues in fact would be ideal mate !
I would of told them that its not recommended , put it in writing on the quote ....then done the job, I can't be too fussy with the way things are at present ( that's not knocking ure decision , if I had tons on then that different )
I would have sent the e-mail with my suggestions and why I didn't think their choice was suitable but if they still wanted it, I would have fitted it. How they clean it, is not my concern, fitting the materials correctly andf offering good advice is.
I fitted one job of unnatural, looks nice but is expensive. Not as easy to keep clean as you may think. We fitted a light colour and the customer called us back saying it was too dirty!! Unnatural also weaver green.
I wouldn't have it (seagrass, sisal etc) but if people want to pay me to do it hay ho ! good rates too as no one wants to do it
