I'm doing some Spacia 18" tiles with design strip tomorrow that the customer has bought herself. I went to prep the floor today and started to cut some 18" strips. I can get ONE strip out of what has been supplied and the remainder is about 3mm short of a tile - is this normal or am I missing a trick?

She also bought Amtico HT adhesive - would there be a problem if I used Mapei PS instead?

I find amtico stripping is nearly always a tad short of 36". Ps should be fine but any problems and amtico would walk away I should imagine .

Yeah I find amtico stips are a bit short to !
Prefer Karndean coz there tagged & longer
Any sutible adhesive can be used but manufacturers always recommend there own (I wonder why?)

What's the reason for not using the HT its good stuff ?

Thanks guys - Spacey I'm just used to using ps as it can be pasted out over a bigger area and no rush to lay the tiles and I find it less messy. Do you use the same trowel and roll the ht like the ps?

I use ht on karndean now most of the time ,I trust it way more than the ps adhesive , yes it's more time and messy but the transfer you get with ht is really good. Karndeans ps is like tackifier I think, especially when spread on screeded floor.

I hate ht it sets to quick , messy balls ht is ok. All I use is ps on all jobs never had problems if you follow conditions.

Most PS works up to 27° & all LVT discolours from 27° so is there any point in HT ? & as Daz said He's had gapping using HT ? & F46 is suitable for underfloor heating & that's PS ? So What's going on exactly ??

I remember fitting Amtico 20 odd years ago and all you had was 417 acrylic (I think it was that) or Epoxy !

I used f46 once in underfloor heating and it tented. This was on a givlon floor. Think it's they name the anyhydrite stuff. The builder said the floor retains heat better, I wondered if this was why it tented. I've not felt confident to try it again on underfloor so just use ht glue.

Ht adh is recommended for conservatories because of the high temp during the summer .wouldn't use ps . I've fitted loads of connies in with ht adh .

That's the point of ht spacey, because extreme temperatures in conservatories would make the tiles lift using ps . If you used ht you should be fine. When. You say 27 degrees do you mean direct sunlight or temp. Because that's wrong if you mean at 27 degrees all lvts discolour.

ps can take much higher temps than HT, HT addy's are just a get out jail free card for manufacturers and anhydrate screeds retain moisture better too so can cause problems later on hate the bloody stuff, whats wrong with sand and cement
