Layed a penthouse flat in tarkett one strip woo last week and looked smart customer was over the moon with colour anyway we went back today as Foreman had a cleaning issue the painters went in and sprayed the walls and over spray on the floor . And kitchen fitters also decided to remove the perfection to put kitchen in
Remove the perfection, I like it I'm guessing you mean protection? How bad is that. I would be fuming if that was my house! Kitchen fitters are in my bad books anyway and painters should know better?
Ha yeah ment protection and yeah they are long wall units made into a dividing wall reature between kitchen diner fireman is going mad if they don't clean it to customers satisfaction all 109 sq metres are being replaced
Ouch I wouldnt want to be on the receiving end of that counter charge, make sure you charge double for uplift teach them a lesson.
Just shows that how little respect other trades have. Normally they leave their crap for us to clean up with the floors normally going in last. On the odd times the floors go in first it shows how poor other trades are with how clean they are and that the floor fitter masks up for them. Disgrace that the u.k trade is supplying such a poor service. No wonder foreign trades people are getting our work as they respect the surroundings. It make s me laugh that when im doing a NVQ assessment that when i question a floorlayer on tidying up/ protecting areas etc tehy ask me what this has to do with laying a floor. Well teh above shows why all trades need to understand why we protect areas form damage. Obviously the decorators in the picture have not had it explained to them. Im sure the bill for putting right will send the company under or will teach them a lesson in why you protect areas . Sorry for the rant, but there is no excuses for the above. Disgrace.
The polish painters on site masking tape dust sheets to skirting and we can walk into Any room they have been in and see hardly any trace if any at all that they have been in there rubbing down, completely different league in tidy ness
So why does us british think its o.k to make a mess. Take dazlights pictures the other day where he had screeded a floor and plaster went in after and covered his screed in plaster. Why do they think its o.k? do we splash screed up there plaster? do we cover the wall paper in adhesive? WHY do they think its o.k for floorlayers to clean up the mess. Really annoys me! I will tell you why the above happens. It is because we dont have any sign over papers between trades where we approve areas fit for laying floors or quality assurance sign over paperwork. Why not? other European countries have them. For example, you working in Germany and its a new build /extension. You get paperwork to sign that your happy with the quality that other trades have left the place in before you take on contract. Why o why dont we have it here?
Yeah couldn't agree more. All other trades seem to use the floor as their bin. It is such a bad habit that needs to be changed!
feck that's pretty diabolical mate... I have to applaud Matt's comments. I massively underline the importance of protecting a newly laid floor from not only following trades but removals men & their type!!! Little or no respect given to the new floor unless rammed down their throats then they usually act as if your the dummy for telling them something that obvious - Well it doesn't become obvious to these monkeys UNLESS you do ram it down them... Likewise removals men, the bigger companies seem to cater for floor protection (To an extanet) dust sheets etc & general awareness & respect BUT have from experience a few horror stories from damage done - Completed a penthouse flat (Similar to Bourny) in Cardiff, 115m2 open plan 3-strip eng. Maple on the Friday. Client moving in on same day, lift not working (DIdn't help!!!) poor old removal chaps had to lump an American style fridge/freezer up f00k knows how many steps then decided (As they were rightly bo**oxed) to drag it from front door to Kitchen leaving an 1" wide staple groove along their route!!!! All up in the skip & re-fitted 3 weeks later,, double earner... LOLS... more horror stories...?
Comparing them to monkeys is insulting to monkeys mate. all photos have been shown to chippys boss who went mental and kicked 3 of them off site this morning within an hour replaced with guess who polish blokes and straight away set chop saws up on landing area away from finished floors, magic man is in next week to try and sort out the less scratched floors he's going to be a busy boy
stupid thing is we cover it wall to wall with plastic roll protection then they were ment to cover that protection with 8x4 sheets of cordex in beginning they had 600 sheets delivered but know one knows where it is now how can you lose 600 sheets hmm prob the same way we had 80 packs of wood and 15 rolls underlay go missing one night from the 3rd floor no lift working so only stairs to be used and the security guard never saw a thing police called and no forced entry found, me smells a rat
I was gonna say, I'm surprised they haven't been kicked off the job. I get a fair few phone calls from people about repairing wood floors that have been damaged by removal companies! Makes me laugh, if I had put a massive scratch in a customers floor they would make me rip it up and re place it!
most people don't give a rats arse about other people's work I think because people are under cutting others so much there isn't enough money on the job to take time and be carefull its just get in rush cock job up ruin other people's work leave and let someone else come behind and make it good
