Alright lads Heres my problem layed 75m2 of the click lvt plank effect ive left a 5mm gap the same size of the the tongue on the board the customer hates the silicone and the shop sayes the way to fit it is net to the skirting, whats the correct gap to leave if any? Its not stuck down so im asuming that we should treat it like laminate and leave a gap and bead the edges, ive seen lvt,s expand in the sun why are these different?
Which manufacture is this I've had this problem still going on now never silicone anything that has an expansion gap this will stop it expanding use a scotia or suggest customer replaces skirting after I leave 5mm and yes it's to be treated as a laminate
it is the victoria type looked good down even tho the floor were like a bouncy castle up and down ive fitted 2 types now the distinctive range and the victoria range, i know i should leave a gap in my mind but when you tell customers or the shop they think your having them on especially when other fitters have netted it in or minimal gap, i went on the floorskills course and we saw then when 2 tiles one in the sun an one in the shade after a couple of hours there were a 2mm difference in tiles, imagine that same 2mm on 10 rows of of board
We just did a 150sq m room, and left 8mm gap all round. It`s air conditioned, no windows. They were supposed to leave the skirts off, but did n`t, ended up fitting scotia
Not sure about the Victoria one but Moduleo insist they have one of the most stable click lvt on the market and say that anything under 100m2 doesn't need a gap. Proof is always in the pudding We just got a 40m2 job a few days ago and its running through 3 different areas, skirtings are on and we'll be fitting tight, Moduleo also supply an underlay that is loose lay to sub floor but has a tack finish for the flooring. Pretty good stuff stops the flooring slipping when you don't want it.
Maybe, but I have to say so far so good with their click and the dry back. Early days I know but they seem to have put a fair amount of investment into the product so we decided to give it a shot. Karndean is still our main supplier but we couldn't ignore the growing click lvt market.
I remember reading it at the time. How did that one end up? I can live with teething problems as long as Moduleo (or any manufacturer) stand up and be counted when things go wrong. I always think a company proves their worth when they deal with problems properly.
Sort of ! Silcon can be used but you must allow for it. So for example, if a floor needs say 10mm of expansion and you are going to fill with silicon you will actually need 15mm + expansion to allow for the compression of the silicon. Not that i would recommend anyone to use silicon to fill such a large gap. As for these LVT's, you are leaving a few mm expansion so you only need a additional couple of mm. However we have a product called 'silwood' which is designed for covering SMALL expansion gaps. It remains soft so will compress / move with the flooring. Remember that the LVT product will not move any where near as much as wood flooring.
