Need a business name

Hoping you guys could help me out here, I'm setting up on my own and need to name my business. I was going to go with just my name but I want to come across as a business not a one man band. I thought about my initials NK Flooring but doesn't have that ring to it.

Any suggestions would be very appreciated

 

I thought the same as you when I first started..
more business like etc
But trust me, there's no better advertising than trading on your own name/initials etc..
imo anyways

What about naming after the area/town/street u live in?

 

I wouldn't use King Flooring, all the local scrotes will be lining up with their aerosol cans to add "f u c" or "w a n" to the side of your van.
I reckon it's better to use your own name though.

 

Depends what you are looking for. Is it something that people will always remember, some people use strange names, something that stands out, have you got an image to go with your name, a picture people will always relate to your business. For example a dog walking busines in london has about 7 vans and all have funny pictures on the side. You instantly look and recognise that company. Some people like supporting/using their local business so if you had the name of your town or area you may get local work like that.
In london we also have pimlico plumbers, they have built this brand that everyone knows. All the vans the same colour with the same sign writing, all the guys wear uniform and the vans have private plates all relating to the business, like 1 wc, toilet, gas leak, they have a female and her plate is female, the tiler has tiler. Thanks guys, I don't want king flooring or king as the main word as my dads company is called kings flooring.

I'm currently having a website build so I will have a logo to go with the name but unsure what it will be yet.

I like the idea of my street name that would be Mercury Flooring ??

Think there is already a mercury flooring? Not sure if that matters as long as they arnt in your area, not sure if it matters trading as either

working with your dad is never going to be easy but together you make up a team. i know how you fill as i have been were
you are now i worked with my dad and my grandad and some days i wish thay was with me still but i have my son now and i know i am the same as your dad and mine was but it is only work the way to learn. think long and hard can any one teach you what you know now.

probably not so important these days-but a name near the start of the alphabet was always a good idea as you came first
in the yellow pages etc,mind you it did get out of hand with sometimes- AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAflooring etc lol
