Got a nice 40m2 Karndean in a shop to do in a couple weeks time. At the moment they've got painted floorboards (Don't know why they didn't just sand them down). As the floorboards are in good nick I'm wondering whether I could get the paint off with the buffer and then just feather it all rather than 6mm? Being a high traffic area I'm not sure whether to risk it.
yep defo 6mm ,not only gives a smooth surface to fit to but also stablises floor, floor boards could move ,cup etc and cause major failure.would def use min 6mm ply or maybe jumpax or similar.
Haha, you'd think so wouldn't you but the floor at the moment is immaculate with no gaps or dents. I don't know what goes on in my head sometimes!
had one today wanting solid wood on asphalt, when i told them it wasn't strong enough for it and needed replacing they said a builder mate of theirs said it was fine
Well what are you talking about then! If the builder says its fine it must be?!? Bit like how the builder says its fine to go over new screed after 2 weeks!
Rule of thumb when the builders stick their nose in ....... we'll be happy to do a supply only basis for the builder to fit and take responsibilty for madam.
If you don't ply that floor, you'll catch a cold m8, i only use 4mm ply because i find it follows the undulations better, then i prime with neat 131 and screed with a fibre reinforced screed every time, the finish is very good everytime and if the tight xxxxx wont pay i walk
@ozzy. dont karndean/amtico say you have to use 6mm ply as a basic rule of fitting their product incase any issues after fitting?
