With the cost of the forum due to hit a few hundred a month here are some suggestions if anyone has better ones please say we will run a poll starting Friday 2nd with all sensible ideas 1. a monthly subscription to trade section 2. A monthly subscription for the whole site 3. A one off year payment 4. Swamp the site with adverts ( may offer cheap flooring losing us work ) 5. leave it free for us with matt paying ( he will close site when he has enough of forking out for it )
I wonder if any of the brands could be persuaded to advertise? If we could put across the importance of the site as an advertising platform without the complications of pricing then customers who use the site would have the opportunity to rate products on quality first rather than price. The branded companies are still spending vast sums of money on advertising, the advertising on this site would be dramatically cheaper for them and yet still giving them a credible unbias site for customer comparisons. I would recommend we as a result have a trade only section (a verified one) for specific conversations on products, problems, prices etc. I realise company funds are spent with increasing thrift but surely between us all we have decent contacts within these companies to give us a sporting chance?
i'm up for subscription for trade section, whilst also allowing advertisements by manufacturers not retailers this will allow them to also get quality installers through the find a fitter section to increase their standing within the trade. Also as Jambo stated a rating system or review section for consumers to use would help to keep high standards with products that are advertised.
We do have a trade section already with the above already in there. Its towards the bottom of the forum ! also i vet everyone before they are allowed in. Did you not know this? if so how come? (after feedback as obviously it is not clear)
No you're fine Matt, I was just meaning if the site layout was to change as a result of any advertising that the trade section is well worth having Which reminds me I must catch up with you regarding access to said trade section, I just got way laid with everyman and dog last week so didn't get a chance to phone you.
trade should be unlocked for you. As above we vet everyone and for example your email address and posts on here prove to me your trade.
