Here's a poser for you Can anyone suggest an underlay that satisfies UHF, the tog of the carpet can be varied between 1.1, 1.5 and 1.7 AND is also has to be suitable for a cinema room so needs good accoustic properties. The area is approx 7m x 7m. Cheers

Cheers lads, I have used both before. The roma whilst cheaper gives the carpet a bit more protection due to its thickness. The Technics 5 does what is says in the tin but wow it ain't cheap. Trouble is the customer had something accoustic fitted in their last house that they say was extremely thick but I'n now trying to point out that this new house with its UFH cannot cope with such a high togged underlay....... unless they can afford to double their heating bill :roll: I'll check out that website and see if I can offer a compromise.
They are probably talking about that accoustilay matting, cant be used over ufh. Cant use anything too thick over ufh tho.
Made a couple of phone calls today and the best result so far seems to be Venice from Ball and Young. It's as high a tog as I can manage given the carpet, whilst at the same time being as thick as possible. Just need to convince the customer now :argue
