Job to prep for engineerd wood , open plan lounge and kitchen, kitchen is having under floor heating mat do I latex over it or feather out ,lounge needs latexing as well.?
floated over ufh Mat, just contemplating what screed to put over tomorrow , mat over bitumen so its latextradeplan vs tremco sx301...........
That's what we use to do with the speed heat if that's the same stuff. Electric heating laid on cork with a sticky mesh to hold it down. Then 2 coats of latex, then stick engineered or Amtico. And don't call me Shirley. Lol
Dependent, but if in most cases, yes fully bonded. Depending on what system is used ,most heat mates should be covered in a compound. If we was then to float with a underlay you have to be careful that the underlay used etc will allow heat to flow. you will actually end up with higher temps underneath to get the heat through. Dont forget that when we have a floating floor we introduce a air gap. So if you think about double glazed windows and then single glazed windows on how they preform with heat you end up with the same sort of thing. Also, a lot of engineered are designed to be fully bonded. All of the above is dependent on the subfloor moister etc tho and the product used. Each product and spec is different so best to always speak to manufacturer to see what they recommend.
