Hello everyone, Bosch sent me out a Laser to have a play with. Its designed to measure how much a subfloor runs out. Some may ask "why do we need to know that ?" well it has its uses. If for example you did need to get a subfloor level then this is the perfect tool for you. BUT if you need to put a slope on a floor then again this is the perfect tool. So for example you may be installing wet rooms that need a set run off into a floor drain. It defo has a fair few uses for the flooring trade anyway. So i started to play with it and it does what it says on the box. Simple to use and dead accurate from my calculations. The way it works is it sends out 2 lasers. You then have a measuring board that the lasers hit and this tells you how must the floor runs out where your testing. It also comes with a remote control. So if i was say 10 meters away i dont have to keep running back to the laser to turn it. I simply point teh remote and press left or right. Anyway, im impressed. Some pics for you -
This would be ideal for a company I do work for they do a lot of indoor bowls floors what is the accuracy to length of the laser like
The unit sends out TWO laser beams. You align the one on the "align here" bit of board and then where ever the other laser hits it tells you the run out of subfloor. The board just simply sits on subfloor. The only thing you have to do is move it so the laser is hitting it.
No idea mate. What ever it does cost tho i hope to be able to sort some sort of deal for Forum 'trade' members and anyone who attends FloorSkills course. We will see what Bosch can offer us.
Not sure about the little chart thing that goes with it though, wouldn't it be quicker to circle all the areas that the laser point out and then just drop a level on them to see if it rocks or if there's a gap underneath??
i gave Dazlight & Coolville a demo of this laser yesterday. They both like it a lot. G4L, the chart thing tells you how low or high the floor is so you dont have to measure. You stick it on the floor and the lasers hit it and actually tell you on the chart how many mm the floor is out. We will have a open day soon at training center so anyone who wants to see tools like this in action can.

so what happens when the builder is 0mm out on his floor, are we to level floors now or just smooth over???
If the builders screed is perfect then no, you dont have to prep. The builder has done it for you. but has a builder ever got a subfloor perfect for you that you dont need to do any thing?
what i meant was if it shows on that laser that the floor is out by 10>mm is it down to us to rectify by making the floor level? or do we just smooth it over..
