A few of you have mentioned that you are not happy with P131 (not sticking well) and I was wondering if any of you mix suppliers products when doing sub floor prep. I've got a hall to do, in wood block, which has bitumen on concrete and I was looking to do the following: Remove bitumen - prime with diluted P131 - green bag with 114 - F76 - prime with Mapei eco prim grip - F300. Reason for using Mapei was that it would have a better adhesion than neat P131. Thoughts please.
Dont think P131 can go under a dpm John. I have been using the ardex primer neat on ceramics and dpm's great gear and not a bad price.
Daz - the 131 would go down on the concrete first, to prime. then the green bag then the dpm. F.Ball then say prime the 76 with neat 131 before using the 300 but I was wondering if the Mapei would be a better primer?
131 cant be used under a smoothing compound that dpm is being applied to unless the subfloor is less than 75%rh. What is the reason for the dpm John? is because its got wood going down and to drop it below 65% ? I presume the base is old as it has adhesive residue, i take it that it does have a working dpm ?
Yes Matt - I can see the visqueen where there is a joint in the floor so I am assuming it has a built in dpm. I will check this with the Tramex when I remove the bitumen but the guy from F. Ball said to prime with 131 at 7/1 then green bag with 114 then F76. I was doing this because it will be wood block but just wondered about using the Mapei instead of 131 on the F76.
Thats correct it seems John, i have just checked. They have changed 131 so it can now be diluted to 1/7 on wet floors along with the system they have suggested. Very contradictory tho as they say below 75%rh for both products but then they say its o.k to use on wet floors. Also they are saying you can use there DPM on floors with rising damp. So a few changes. But NO dont mix products. You have to use there primer or you wont be covered if it fails. Alot of messing tho John using that system and the cost also. Personally if the subfloor moister is below 75%RH i would use Mapei prim t primer, latexplan trade, 1k turbo dpm and then glue direct to this. If subfloor is above 75% RH (but working dpm) then i would do the above but just use Mapei ESM primer instead of prim t.
