I did a brushed and oiled 15mm oak engineered floor a couple of months ago together with solid oak skirting. The lady called me back out because a stray tom cat she sometimes looks after had managed to miss the litter tray with the result that an area of the floor - about a ten inch circle and the skirting board are now stained black. I have tried to lightly sand the skirting board (didn't want to try the floor at this stage as I might sand out the brushed effect) but it has made little difference. Am I just going to have to sand deeper or is there, as I suspect, no alternative but to replace? I don't really want to do this as she is a friend and I didn't want to have to go to any more expense.
