So what do you do to your ply? I mostly nail with ny coil nailer on 6mm and 9mm ply. But did 12mm ply last week and have done 18mm ply before which I screwed down. Took ages as used a cordless screwdriver. I do staple ply on chipboard now and then to save having to use feather finish all over.
Screw down 9mm ply mostly but I haven't had any large areas to ply for ages now, if I did I think I would invest in the set up you got Daz, coil nailer must be a lot quicker!
Yeah, I was using a spot nailer for years. The mallet type. Then I got a cheap staple gun which was ok but the coil nailer is top notch.
Screws everytime !! Nothing worse than when the job is finished , you walk across to get something out of you tool box and it's like walking over squeeking budgies !! Staples are a waste of time and nails are to slow. I have never used or seen a coil nailer so I can't comment on them but for now I always use screws. Phil
Yeah a cordless drill is what we use. It's a bit slower than a stapler but you only do it once !! Phil
Well I bit the bullet and invested in a coil nailer (thanks Daz for your advice) and I must say it was much quicker (otherwise I might have missed the second half as well....was it over the line???) plus greater peace of mind with the job. I think I got it for a decent price but I wasn't sure about the compressor as I didn't really know what I was looking for but it seems to work ok. Don't know what I might have been doing wrong but I did get a few misfires from time to time - could I have been hitting floorboard nails or could it be something else? Anyway I would certainly recommend it to anyone - should have got one sooner!
