I'm on the look out for a second hand unit , is there any issue with buying second hand apart from the obvious , do they have to be recalibrated now and again , and if so is that simple or costly ?

they dont need calibrating. If they do then there is normally something that has gone wrong with it.

nothing wrong with 2nd hand providing it works.

I think they come with a calibration pin that you put across the prongs to check its working o.k. As for the scan mode just put your hand under it and see if it works.

Its the pins you want accurate for reading wood moister and the scan bit is only a indicator to tell you where to set up a hygrometer

I,ve seen one on eBay , not sure if they have the extra probes and instructions ( waiting for reply)
Will I need them ? Just need this for scanning for damp areas and testing wood ?

you should be able to download the wood moister conversion table i would guess. And the calibration bit im sure you could purchase also.

    You will need both tho.
