Can you remember the 1st day at work and what you did. Mine was back in 1987 and was laying vinyl tiles on safebond 3 ( black adhesive ) with a nice couple of lads who took the *iss out of me all day. I was covered in glue by the end of the day.
Mine was fitting a really cheap felt back cord in a office, couldn't use a hook knife at all, hacked it very short on my first go. Next job I did we were getting cups of tea made for us all day and I thought this ain't a bad job

june 2011, it was a warm day........... i cant remember my first day? maybe because i used to go to work with my Dad on a weekend from the age of maybe 4 ? I used to pick up rubbish and i think just went along for teh ride in Daddy's big van ! (it was a VW camper. Worth a fortune now ) . Progressed into me prepping rooms when i was maybe 10 and on to fitting carpets by the age of maybe 12? What does stick out to me was when i used to help strip up the carpets in the original Carpet fitter of the year. That was back in the 80's so i would or been maybe 10 ? Funny how H+S has changed over the years. Imagine a kid that age stripping gripper up etc now :?
same as you Matt started prepping when i was 8 ish fitting at 10, some of the customers looked surprised when a 14 year old was fitting out their full house alone, did most of my formal training between 13 and 16 just never bothered with going for my master fitter probably could have for all flooring trades by 16 but was more interested in girls and beer by then
August 1974 . Ripped up an old lino floor in a pub on Aston Old Road in Manchester. I actually got blisters from sweeping up !! Phil
1987 in a large (highly polished) school hall, being dragged along by a Frank drum sander in my espadrilles!
