I keep seeing the name Mflor pop up on the forum. Seem to be getting a pretty good review, i have not read a comment about anyone moan about it as of yet. SO....... i invited Mflor down to the FloorSkills training center to demonstrate there product range. All seems well, but do they preform???? Well i put Mflor to the test. So they send me a pallet of there subfloor prep system. 'Smart floor' as they call it. I read through the instructions and its basically a floating subfloor prep system. Perfect if you have to prepare a subfloor for LVT , sheet vinyl, lino , carpet tiles etc over a subfloor that can not have smoothing compounds etc applied to it. For example- Listed buildings Contaminated subfloors (oil / adhesive) High moister content subfloors areas needing reduction of sound you get the idea..... So this smart floor system, it also has the benefit of reducing sound. So maybe the property your working in has certain regs / agreements towards sound transfer, this may be solution ? So like i say i read the instructions, they read to install very similar to fitting a laminate product. For instance- Acclimatise Rh checks Temp checks heavy loads not to be... Etc.... So , how should we test the product? Well we start with fitting the product in area that is very warm...(room is hot but floor temp is 19c ! ) we will then allow temps to drop down to near freezing (weather permitting, which it is at the moment :smile: ) ... the Rh will be going up and down well past recommended amounts....... But obviously this will take time so i carried on with busing it for the day instead. For tech people who would like to know, on fitting the training center , test condition are - RH 51% Temp 19c wood / smart floor MC 11.5% SO, the verdict ! The PLUS points - Well as you see from the pics i have been wheeling a stacks truck all over the 'smart floor' (i also abused with a pallet of screed but forgot to take pics) . I was expecting it to fail on the first attack of a pallet truck with a few hundred Kilo on it. To my disappointment i could not damage it ! What can i say? it seems very good so far..... we will see if it carry's on impressing ! I have a feeling that this product will be a very very good product. The Bad points - The instructions need a tweak. Could do with some pics to look at as i get bored easy reading ... Anyway, i wonder just how hard wearing teh LVT range is...... i hear someone managed to run over the top of Mflors LVT with a sanding machine ... well i say that but im predicting the future
Good Morning welcome to smart floor... Yes we have supplied some smart floor which is a great product but as you found with the screed and adhesive that you wanted to supply, from a delivery point of view it is too heavy!! the amount that can be charged does not cover free delivery in fact delivery is more than the cost of the product... This is a problem we have yet to resolve. we left it on the site to show the product and see how popular it was...Due I think to poor education there has been very little take up of the product. with Duncan & Mark now active in selling more Mflor and Smart floor I think this will change as for years fitters have complained about the problems of Karndeen and amtico not fitting correctly but as have stuck with them. Mflor was always a better product, put it on smartfloor and you get a great finish very quick too. We may have to set up and additional delivery charge just for smartfloor somthing we have to sort if we are to sell the product over distance. Any comments or ideas always welcome. rugrat
Delivery is a issue. It may have to be that this a collection on product ? The idea was to supply pallet but obviously this is not possible for most installers due to storage and the cost up front. Anyway, its early days yet. I have not finished abusing it yet. Look like it will be a recommended product by myself but like i say its still early days.
straight blade mate. 3 cuts then snap. Leaves a rough edge that i cleaned up with knife. Also sent it through the big saws for a perfect cut. But you need dust extraction other wise the dust sticks to its built in adhesive. Im arranging a FREE open day at Floorskills training center where you can all come along and try the product out. That is providing im fully happy with it.
great as its something I will be getting into. good for all these jobs im getting with no dpm. Does it expand much?
Its a floating MDF/HDF core product (need to check the density) So it will react the same as a floating laminate floor. Im testing this at the moment but im going to guess approx 1.5mm per meter of expansion. Like i say im testing the product. It may have a magic core for all i know.
Oddly I've sold some of this in a past life !! It was fate all along that I'd work for mflor/distinctive !!
