I have got some polyflor camaro to fit in a resonable size kitchen, I dont do a lot of lvt and I was gonna use the vs90, anyone else use it ? I have used f46 in the past but had a problem with sunlight on one job and would rather take the risk factor out and use ht adhesive. You have to lay in wet adhesive on this one .
Not sure on the mapei, but the F46 is spot on, you let the adhesive go tacky then lay into it. But any areas with direct sunlight use High temperature adhesive.
I don't fit much of it but I did a job a while back and where the extension French doors were they gapped , no where else , so I thought might aswelll just use ht adhesive , my local supplier had a show on in the summer and a firm fitted some wood plank in the reception and it hasn't budged a bit ... and it gets pretty damn hot , they used vs90
high temp adhesive does not work. To many variables on the warranty also if you need to claim. Basically you have no warranty As for F46, well its designed to go over underfloor heating unlike high temp. Work that one out. F46 is a very good adhesive. Mapei's equivalent is also very good. Almost the same apart from the Mapei product has a higher grab strength. The problem with shrinking LVT is down to the temps its installed at. Not what the temps are after its fitted.
Ok so the fact it was pretty warm the day I fitted it meant that when it cooled down it shrunk but how comes it was only the glass door area ?
The area in front of the glass would of been warmer than the other areas. IE- the subfloor would of been warmer and the tile/plank you installed would of also of been warmer as they will heat up after you installed them. The only way to stop them growing would be to have a plank/tile next to them hitting a wall say to stop them expanding. If they have some where to move to while there being heated they will grow into that area as there is simply nothing to stop them moving. However, forget trying to stop them growing by blocking them with something like a wall or a few other tiles. What we need to do is stop them growing while installing or allow for the growth. 2 ways of doing this. 1st- simply block out the light at the patio doors etc as the sunlight will heat the tile and make it grow while your installing. 2ND- install the product COLDER than the average temps for the area your installing in. This way the tiles can only grow. Worse case is that the odd tile 'could' peak at the joints. But if your installing on F46 etc you can easily remove a plank/tile and trim the ends. Lots easer than replacing a whole floor if it shrinks. There is a bit more to it than that but thats the basics.
First off your comparing to different adhesives. F46 is equivalent to Mapei Ultrabond ECO VS90 is more equivalent to F44 :thumbs To be 100% honest mate i have never used either Mapei product on a full sized area. I 'used' to be a fan of FBALL. I have however used the Mapei products at our college and test centre and the Mapie 'Ultrabond ECO' (F46 Equivalent) seems to be the better adhesive purely on the fact that i find in grabs a little better. This is my personal option tho. There is nothing wrong with F46, it is within the best 2 adhesives in my eyes. It dont matter what adhesive you use. If you fit the product to hot then it will try to move before the adhesive grabs it. If your adhesive is trowel applied ~(has ridges) then it will move move than a flat bed adhesive (rolled) Simply fit the product colder than the areas normal living temp.
Easy, just black out windows with paper and masking tape, but don't put the masking tape on their paintwork 'cause you don't want the paint coming off if the painter hasn't prepped correctly.. :lol: :lol: get the customer to take it down the next evening and recycle it ofcourse...
Only thing I would say is when these guys fitted the reception it was pretty hot , one complete side is glass and they didn't block the light because people were standing watching, so I'm surprised that it hasn't gapped or tented , that's what made think to use thad adhesive
