Decided i'm going to change my knee pads, I have used the white f.ball ones for 20 years without the top strap in.
The bottom strap has been diggin in the back of my knee an huting alot lately.
So looking for some new ones but not the insert ones as not a fan of them.
What do you use and are they good?
Remember I do hard flooring not much carpet :D

I can't get on with anything straped to my legs, I prefer the inserts from snickers for the floorlayers trousers those ones with the little polystyrene balls in pop them in the tumble dryer for about 10 - 15 mins and those little balls puff back up again wish mine would puff back up that quick LOL.
The yanks swear by the pro knees. Apparently they eliminate lower back pain, shin ache, ankle ache, basically any aches and pains involved with crawling around and have been developed by doctors in ocupational medicine and therapy.

I use Proknee m8, dear as feck but worth it as they are special made to my leg size. Good if it only hard floors you do like me and you don't feel the soft velcro straps round your legs unlike others (tried them all)

im with Jay, I hate pads with straps.

Is there a reason why you don't like the slide in pads mate? I must say that the snickers trousers really pee me off as the pads are always in the wrong place. But the Blackadder trousers seem very good.

They don't seem to be in the right place and are too thin. But that be the ones I have.
Will give them another go tomorrow as back of my knee has a red mark on it.

I've had the same pair of pads for about 5 years, they came free with a pair of JCB work trousers and haven't flattened at all.
My real problem is the pain I get in my right ankle from sitting on it when i'm kneeling, but I don't suppose there is such a thing as an ankle pad is there?

Yeah India, China, or Hong Kong.
With the Snickers trousers you really have got to get measured properly, I to use to find the pads were never in the right place until the misses looked at the sizeing chart and said to me well you're ordering the wrong size you div let me measure you up properly and as she is in the clothing industry she knew how the chart worked measured me and then pointed to the correct size for me. Worked out well cause now the pads are where they should be. Plus them floorlayers ones Matt have that little toggle strap near the pads that you can pull tighter and it helps keep the pads in position without pinching.
I use to wear the strap pads but when I was 24 I had a serious accident on site and suffered a circumfirential burn to the lower left leg and lost all 7 layers of skin including some of the fat and a deep dermal burn to the right both of which are very close to the back of the knee. I had 2 skin grafts and 6 weeks in hospital had to learn to walk again and crawl and it was a year before I was able to get back down and crawl around but the straps would make me bleed and as the left leg burn was so deep I lost all the nerve endings which meant I could not feel what was happening to my leg until it was bleeding. Hence why I stopped wearing the strapped ones.

Matt if you have some Ideas put it onto paper and maybe I could get the misses to have a chat with some manufacturers of clothing to see what could be done with your ideas.

ye jay, the sizing ! Getting the sizing right is very important but the problem is the manufactures seem to be getting things very wrong.

for example (i wont name who supplied the workwear) i was sized up at Harrogate for the trousers i would be wearing for the competition in Germany. I was given a perfect fitting pair :D now to follow was another 2 pairs for me to wear.

Well they arrive. The one pair was perfect size but the pads was way to low? the next pair i could not get into. They was to small? How can this be when all 3 pairs are the same size according to the number?

So anyway, i was in need of a new pair last week and had to buy my own for a change  so i went in and got the pair that fitted me best (different make to the usual lot) so i go to work and as i bend down the left knee pad spins around the side of my leg??? i stand back up and the knee pad is back in the correct position?

Basically there all crap. With my idea all knee pads should be suited perfect to the user.

Yeah Matt I know what ya mean damn things just spin sometimes, we use to suffer quite bad in paintball for that as the slide pants use to twist when we went down for a slide hard on the knees, now the pants are made in a slight twist with pre bent legs so they are already formed in a bend and twist so when we go into a slide knees down the pads are there every time and no matter how we crawl on the field or twist and slide they are always in place. I've been considering switching to my tournament playing pants for fitting trouble is they are not only more money than the snickers and all the other makes but they are very bright colours.
Like I said Matt if you got some ideas and wanna put summit together for a manufacturer the misses can help ya with that and turn your ideas into a working pattern for the manufacturer to work from and make a prototype.

Yes mate, got sent over about 3 years ago and replace the fronts and pads every so often. Was about £200 inc taxes but I find them really comfy and just get used to them, need to measure your legs like they do in the vids on their site. Was working on site a few weeks ago when a spark was getting cocky asking about them and trying to take the piss and saying they would fit him lovely etc to which I replied that a) They wouldn't fit him as they are custom made and b) As he had the biggest mouth and was asking about them he wouldn't have much use for them as they wouldn't fit over the claw hammer sticking out his knees. Cue pin drop and sparky scuttle away back up the loft... :flame

Yeah mate, toe nails flat to floor and shins fully flat on the floor. The shock goes down through your toes and not up your back. Took me a week to get used to and use all the time. Beware that as they are that big they will pick up every it of junk and a couple of times have had to replace a couple of Karndean Shitetile planks coz I scratched with junk stuck on pads. If you do go for them go for the 1" pads and buy some spare rubber front boots for the front at the same time as they do get dirty if you don't look after them (like me)
I wrecked mine a few weeks ago on a screed job and slipped and fell on me arse and never got round to cleaning so have been prepping with them and using inserts when fit so no scratching but will order spares soon.
