hi chaps.. i laid a karndean floor (island limestone) in a conservatory about 3 years ago and the customer rang me today complaining the feature strips are discolouring a green colour. has anyone had this experience or might know whats causing it?
Could be the sun that mate. Karndean and strong sun dont mix well, have you been back to see the job?
check under furniture mate to see what colour it is there. Also what has she been washing the floor with? You might have to get karndean out!!!!!
will do mate. seems strange she says the tiles are fine its just the feature strips that are discolouring
some karndean does better in the sun and wont discolour, the strips are made from a different range so could be that. So check Sunlight on the floor and is it just these strips which are green, what poduct she cleans floor with and what she uses. Try get some pictures. The sound of it though its not your fault mate
do as Daz has advised. After you have checked under furniture to see if the same problem then get back to us mate
A mate of mine had a job did the same thing but it was all the tiles went green after three or four years. Karndean came good even covering the labour cost of replacing too but I think it took a bit of work in pushing them. The floor was exposed to a lot of sun.
ok chaps, i went to inspect today. its a west facing conservatory gets a lot of direct sunlight and would get very hot in there i should imagine. the feature strips have gone a greeny colour in places and at 1 end of the conservatory where it is affected most by direct sunlight i would say there are signs of fading in the tiles. in fact i could swear i can see the beginnings of a green tinge to them also. other than that the floor is absolutely solid with no fitting issues or reasons that i may have caused this. i will add a few photos i took although they dont show up that well on the camera.
They wont clean mate. If there going green they are....................... speak to Karndean ! Make sure you let us know what they say tho.
