I hate it when builders think they know everything about floors. They talk shite most of the time. I had a fella a few months ago saying saying screeding is a plasters job ????
This is the fella who screeded a floor and put pva down about 24 before then let everyone walk all over it, so I had to re screed it and he reckoned it didn't need another coat.
When you say this floor has no dpm an they shake there head

Im in the process of adding a FAQ section so you can all send your customers here so they can read for themselves the correct way to prep a floor, when i say correct way i will be stating standards and moister and why a builders 'latex screed' is not sutible . Should help with quotes etc on doing the job the correct way and why you need to 'redo' the builders screed.

Is that o.k with you all?

Me too, great idea that. Me and Mike were talking about something like that the other day.
Like put a guideline in it to say why you can't lay over new screed, why moisture will damage a floor if you don't sort it out etc.

To be honest i would really like you all to put links on your websites back to the forum.

not only does it link the forum up higher on Google but it works the same for your websites.

It would also be nice to get more of the public on here. As you all know i don't allow prices to be listed on the forum unlike all the other forums so we don't have any worries with the public looking around on here. End of the day the more they read the more educated they will become. They will start to understand WHY the subfloor needs to be prepped, WHY the underlay needs to be changed and also soon work out which tradesman is speaking rubbish!

Biggest problem with the flooring trade is how little the public know about it.

This sounds like a good idea. Can you make a logo that would link from our website to the forum?

Exposure might get you into trouble with the Fuzz.
