Arrived today about a quarter of its previously famous size that being thinner and also smaller in width/length it being a handbook, hopefully no-regrets then ladies.Seriously though is this because work is tighter out there or are there other and better if differing ways to advertise?. and i dont mean spraying your house with your phone number.

They have been ringing me to get a rep out to see me, but not intrested.
Alot of people dont use it and throw it out I have been told by customers. Most younger people use internet now to search.
Yell.com gets used alot more, but goggle is the best for looking for local business. Can cost alot to advertise on there though.

    Question for you,

When you need to find a Builder etc do you reach for the yellow pages or do you search on google for a builder etc ?

I ain't even got a yellow pages and haven't looked at one since the dawn of the internet when its delivered I don't even bother taking mine in the house. The only thing I think its good for is wacking a burglar over the head.

I have seo and a sub to the yellow pages and make a point of asking where the customer found me. A majority find me online but a fair percentage (about 25%) find me from the yellow pages which is a small box that says what I do and my web address. The one find me in the YP are aged about 55+. I do think in the next few year the YP book will almost be obsolete.

I never use the yellow pages or internet for tradesman, as I usually know of one personally, and I've found most of my customers use me on recommendation. I guess that's the advantage of living in the coutryside - everyone knows everyone.

I do advertise in Yellow Pages and have done for a number of years. First ad's were just small ones but over the years I increased the size and increased the business I got from them. I always chesk when people ring up to see how they learnt about me and a lot of people said they contacted the three biggest ad's in Y.P. Then a couple of years ago the business from Y.P. started to drop off. I spent less this year and of course the ad is smaller and so is the book.

To be honest I wish I had'nt bothered and I think Sandyfloor is right in saying Y.P. will dwindle away in the not too distant future.

I'll spend my money on the web site in future!
