Hi Steve, i normally sharpen mine on an oil stone, especially if they are the knife edge type. I also sharpen my gripper shears in the same way, although you have to take them apart, i hope that helps, regards Alan
i wait untill im working with my uncle who has the same pair of scissors. I swap them with his. I do so every few months and he dont seem to realise whats happened. He just gets on with sharpening them.
Right I have had a chat to my scissor supplier who have beem making scissors since 1760 they tell me if you have drop forged scissors you can not sharpen them yourselves they need to be sent back for sharpening and resetting and a new spring replacement now they charge £7 for the service but they have to send back via courier which adds £10 to the cost all plue vat. I shall have athink about how we can set up a service for doing this.
very hard to do unless you have the correct equipment, bench grinder with jig to grind the correct angle fine stone and you need to hone and set the blade. check the yellow pages for saw sharpeners they generally provide this service, some even while you wait, not normally expensive
