so then, speaking to sky t.v about multi room. All the floorboards are up so a simple install. However 'sky' state that the installers are not allowed to install cables under the floors even tho all the floorboards are up!

They are instructed to staple the cables to the skirting boards, we all know that they end up being shoved under the carpet.

What a stupid rule they have, causes nothing but trouble for floorlayers.

Talking about burglar alarm people: wires everywhere, criss-cross over the underfloor and straight next to door posts. Idiots!
(And a SuperCut or Feinmaster cuts through it like butter) ;-)

I can now see why the "FEIN" is expensive.

Fitters do seem to hit the wire with these things but short of running a metal detector over the floor before you start dont see what you can do.

'Fraid the detector would not stop beeping: nails in doorpost, nails in skriting boards, water pipes running over the joists instead of under, phone wires, electrical wires, alarm system wires.

Sometime we wish we could also just shove our work under the floor ;-)

Sky and telephone wires are one of our biggest bugbears. So much so, that we have had to have a disclaimer put in our "Terms and Conditions of Sale". It was getting out of hand at one point and our fitters were getting nervous on every job. Now thats just not fair to our fitters to have to work in those conditions. So now the customer is aware that we are not responsible for any damage to wires and/or pipes where they cannot be seen. If the fitter is at any point unhappy about the position of any pipes or wires he can see, he will advise the customer. The customer then has the option to have the wires/pipes moved by plumber/technician, or allow our fitter to carry on at their own risk after signing another disclaimer. Isn't it sad that its come to this!!!! What's going on in the world???? And the compensation culture thing just drives me mad !! Rant of the day over !! Lol :x

We've got the same condition in our quotes and order confirmation (and I mean on the "front pages", not in the small print!).
So, very wise to mention this here, Flooring Fairy
