Hello, i was wondering if i get some helpfull advice i am fitting a new kitchen and flooring.
I have knocked my wall from the kitchen to dining room to have an open plan effect.
The floor is a concrete floor and was wondering what flooring would be most appropriate?
I was thinking either Ceramics, Wood but most recently Vinyl and have been drawn to a website called Flooring.uk.com which claims it has the same quality vinyl as Amtico and Karndean but at a fraction of the price also who produces a good value hardwearing flooring i dont have a budget to stick to but obviously want value for money and have to cover 29m2 so would like to keep the cost under a 1000 pounds but would pay more for a good floor.
Was wondering if anyone had used this internet company and also for some advice on my flooring dilema as i know there is pros and cons to most flooring.
Also is it advisable to lay the whole floor before installing the kitchen?????

Kind Regards and hope you are all well. :D

all is really down to personal choice.

However, wood is not really the best product for a kitchen due to the moister/spills etc.
I like Karndean products but i would advice you have boarder work as it really sets of the floor along with the fact that it unique.
Vinyl is fine also. Cheaper than Karndean etc.

The main thing to get correct tho for all products is the subfloor prep.

You should get a nice vinyl floor with prep for under £1000 but you would be hard pushed to get karndean and defo not getiing karndean with boarder work for under £1000.

I would also advice that you dont buy the flooring online. Visit a local firm or fitter and have them supply all the products used along with them installing them. Its the only way you can get a guarranty without massive problems with online shopping etc.

    Thanks Matt,

I see what you mean about the borders they do finish it off, so do you recommend vinyl???
To be honest i am by no means an expert on flooring as this is my first house and i havent got the advice of a woman as im single at the minute and want to get this right as i want to have this kitchen and flooring for at least 10 years.
Is Amtico not ment to be better quality than Karndean i dont know but the concensus on the internet is that it is!!!!
Are there any other good vinyl manufacturers as ive heard Poly floor mentioned im sure?
But i do like those borders they set of the kitchen and would also look good in the dining room area, cheers for providing the pics.

I always recommened karndean as its "my" prefered product.

Karndean- does what it says on the box and has a really good range of colours styles and boarders. Also as for wear, if you use the correct seels etc you should not ever wear the surface and will defo do more than 10 years service time.

P.s- if your are anywhere near Eversham you can go to the showroom. Really good stuff there and they can plan the floor etc and mess around with all the designs. Its a very flash place and defo worth a visit. They will also forward all your details on to a local installer that they recommened that will be working to the correct price etc . CLICK ME - http://www.karndean.co.uk/site/home.cfm

Amtico- Has the best wear layer but is over engineered. It harder to work with and takes longer to fit so cost of labour are higher. I cant stand fitting amtico! Also i find it looks more 'plastic' if that makes sence. Also the price is MUCH MORE than karndean or even polyfloor etc. Be carfull tho. There is a Amtico product named "spacia" Stay well away from this product. I have yet to see a this product stand up to everyday usage. It is cheap and not fit for purpose.

Polyfloor/Mflor are also other ones you could look at. However you are more limited on boarders etc.

Or just go for sheet Vinyl ?

im with matt on this one karndean is a very good product and i find more customers choose this over amtico.the spacias easier to fit than other amtico ranges but is only good for bathrooms etc (im pretty sure spacias not even made by amtico so i heard) not high traffic areas.and polyflors stuff i think is really good fitted quite a bit of that and seems to be quite durable and nice to fit like the karndean

dazza, spacia is made in china and is not a amtico product. Amtico have made a big mistake putting there name on the box. ( or so i am informed by a Friend that works for amtico!)

Yes i think Polyflor looks good and having been looking at there styles!!! , i know this is changing the subject but a few of my friends have said maybe i should go for a porcelain tiled kitchen with a wood floor in the dining part.
I am having a cream or white kitchen with mat black worktops and i just think the contrast of wood with tiles would look a bit strange and thought a flow through the open plan kitchen diner would be better.
Do you agree with me or think a wood floor in the dining area would look good when broken up with a tile effect in the kitchen im not convinced but it could work.
I have a solid oak dining table so it might look good.
Any feedback would be great. :?
