Hello, I am hoping for some pointers , do's and don't for a wet UFH install covering appox 50Sqm. Final floor covering will need stone tiles and laminate. Tilting towards Wunda Rapid Response system but open to suggestions. Current sub Floor: 1950s vinyl tiles 25%, 1990s concrete 75%. The latter has been liquid DPM'd, and levelled using Mapei renovation screed. The former has been left as is. I have spoken to some UFH installers who have said it is OK to lay the UFH boards on vinyl tiles. I am not sure how these adhesives work and wanted to know if there are known issues and anything to mitigate the same. For the self levelled floor, I plan to seal it with SBR. However, on few threads on this forum I have noticed mention of bonding issues with the EPS boards. Is there any I need to do to avoid this potential problem? I don't plan to do a DIY job on the install as it is best left to people with experience. The shout out here is to gain a bit more understanding when discussing with potential installers and UFH manufacturers. Thanks in advance.
The 1950s section will need uplifting and then a system like ardex na & DPM1c we always recommend polypipe plus.
Thanks for a quick response. I was dreading that I will need to remove the old vinyl. I have some tins of black jack which I will use and than probably use slc to cover. I have asked polypipe for a quote.
Daz, I removed the old vinyl and found a large patch of damp in one location closer to the wall. This particular region did not have any dpm. The external ground is sloping toward the wall and after a downpour the water pools. So I need to sort that out to check if that's the cause of the damp. Used the dry weather to get the floor dry on its own, sealed it and applied one coat of dpm, second coat perpendicular to it going this week, followed by SLC. Got a quote from polypipe, a bit more than wunda but less than ambiente. Their boards are thinner than others and they use 12mm pipes, not made a call on who I am going with yet...need to run some numbers and make a call this week.
