Apparently retailers will no longer legally be able to ask customers to pay fitters direct from next year. Many retailers voluntarily adopting this policy immediately.
Can’t find any links to the legislation online.
All retailers will have to charge for the fitting along with the goods and fitters will invoice the shops.

It’s something to do with the consumer services act that is currently being amended and it becomes law next year. It’s definitely happening.

Haha those days are gone. It’s more the cash flow that’ll be a problem. Waiting ages to get paid. Most customers I’ve got these days even when it is pay direct pay by bank transfer. I doubt the shops will be in any rush to square us up.

I don’t do much shop work these days anyway so shouldn’t affect me too much.

I’m the same but I do days here and there. Going to be more trouble than it’s worth now though.
And we’ll have all the guys that only did retail out there cutting our throats and driving the prices down.

Totally agree, hopefully I’ll be out the trade in the next 2/3 years. Just about had enough of it

The thought of still crawling about floors until I’m 67 if I don’t die from the glue and fibres first is not too appealing

I suppose that will mean shops having to add vat to the fitting and as shops only have the advantage of service over the online companies, if that service becomes too expensive ,they may lose customers

Certainly rule out the cowboy element in our trade. Unfortunately prices will have to go up.Plus gives customers more opportunities to be unfair and unjust . Im experiencing this situation right now and it’s very uncomfortable. However it’s a nice pay day weekly with no wasted cash ( tool treats .pubs ) ect

  14. Shops should in theory be adding vat to fitting anyway if they are organising the fitting
