    Hi folks,

We are buying a 3 bed semi detached new build and looking for carpets. We have been quoted the following, fitted:

Lounge Cormar Home Counties Silver Cloud/Spirit Glow 19.6 £784.61
    Bed 1 Cormar Home Counties Acer 42oz 11.6 £452.1
    Bed 2 Cormar Home Counties Acer 42oz 13.6 £512.23
    Bed 3 Cormar Home Counties Acer 42oz 9 £354.77
Stair and Landing Cormar Home Counties Acer 42oz 16.8 £663.45

That's working out about £40 m2. My questions:

    1. Are Cormar Carpets any good?
    2. Is £40 m2 a reasonable price?
    3. Should we be looking at a higher or lower weight (middle aged couple with no kids)?
    4. Is an 80/20 blend good?

We want something that will last and feel luxuriant but total price is feeling a bit high to me. Happy to pay for a good product but looking to avoid buyers regret.

    ...I should add, that's £40 m2 ex. VAT.

Cormar has a magical delaminating backing really don’t rate the stuff, you want a 50oz + for s/l and lounge 40 oz is fine in bedrooms, a good 80/20 with a good quality underlay will last if well maintained, prices might be a little low for a quality 80/20 with underlay fully installed but not by too much. You didn’t mention them doing a moisture suppressant and screed downstairs which it will need in a new build, underlay you need a 145 kgm3 density + otherwise it’s too soft and will deform pretty quickly.
