Hello all I am hopefully moving into a new property in the coming weeks and we have discovered that the flooring below the carpet is old Marley tiles, likely from when the flat was built circa 1970. My intention is to lay a floating cork floor directly on top of this once the carpet has been removed and would like to know if this is a viable option? Assuming there is no damage to the tiles this would be preferable than having them removed as I am aware they can contain asbestos. If not ideal then could I lay plywood and then floating floor? Any advice appreciated Many thanks T
Can’t lay plywood over them. So it’s either float the floor on decent underlay Or take the tiles up and apply a liquid smoothing compound like ardex NA
You’ll need to float it on an underlay the Marley tiles are too weak to bond to, check none are damaged, check moisture levels then NA and float on Timbermate excel, just keep in mind cork is fine in bedrooms anywhere else it’ll be buggered in no time. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
