This flooring was perfect when initially fitted 6 months ago but we have had to get the fitters back twice already due to gaps appearing between tiles in some areas. More gaps have since appeared, some in the same place as previously. The fitters have referred this to Invictus over a month ago but no response as yet. Just wanted to ask if it’s normal for some degree of gaps to appear with LVT or should it remain as good as when first installed?
What area is the floor in What adhesive was used Were the tiles acclimatised Is there direct sunlight on the floor
The gap size varies but you can get double thickness paper in some. Other areas have no gaps at all as when it was first laid .
The floor is in a kitchen diner partially separated by a breakfast bar. 9m x 2.7m in total. They used special high temp adhesive in front of the kitchen door which has blinds fitted. There are also gaps where there is no direct sunlight but not as bad. They relaid the area in front of the door but the gaps have reappeared. Acclimatisation: They came to put the SP101 plywood down the first day then fitted the tiles over the following couple of days. They didn’t drop the tiles off prior to this. They did have to come back to relay part of the floor as lines appeared over the joints of the plywood after a few days even though they had feathered the plywood joints and nailed them down appropriately. They thought the plywood was faulty.
Old timber floor. Your ply could be moving all over the place with a subfloor like that. Will be expanding and contracting constantly. Lots of other reasons for gapping.
