Hi folks, just joined the forum as I’ve got a diy project on and want to make sure I do a decent job. I’ve browsed a few of the threads and you folks definitely know your onions so think I’ve come to the right place. I’m building a conservatory. It’s got quite a bit of full height cavity wall, and insulation on the inside of the walls between battens/studs. The floor is a concrete slab, on top of which I’ve laid 100mm PIR (with battens at doors and where some cabinets and the sofa will go), then P5 t&g chipboard flooring as a floating floor. This is nice and flat other than at one join which is a bit lower (maybe 3mm). I’m going to put electric underfloor heating down (the foil type for under wood) and finish with laminate. Aim is for the ufh to be the primary heat source. my questions are: should I add a layer of ply over the chipboard, to make the floor more rigid and flatten the slight dip? If adding ply, should I screw it to the chipboard, or use PU expanding glue? Will I see much benefit from adding the insulation boards (I’ve probably got space for 6mm boards) under the heating element? any views much appreciated, thanks in advance, Mike
